Progress monitoring is the process of evaluating progress toward a performance goal. It is used to find rates of improvement. It’s based on frequent (usually weekly or biweekly) assessments of a specific skill. Over time, progress monitoring can show valuable data on student learning growth. When used in a group of students, it can show which students are learning at a slower rate and may be in need of further assistance.
We have progress monitoring tools built into Spiral WarmUps:
- Weekly Progress Monitoring: This is the tool for weekly monitoring of student growth. You can find it in the Progress Monitoring 101 professional learning course.
- Give It A Shot activities in video warm-ups allow you to formatively assess learning during the process.
- Task Card Projectibles give a snapshot into student understanding of specific skills.
